To son John O’Bannon (Thomas Nelson’s grandfather) and wife Sarah: land where he now lives (212 acres) and slaves.

He bequeathed to his daughter Caty Nelson, Thomas Nelson’s mother) one negro girl Jude now in her possession. After death of wife, all negroes not named in the will be equally divided by the surviving sons.

In Virginia he was Capt. of a company of the State Militia. Bought farm in Fauquier County in 1830 and sold it in 1853.
Married Margaret Selecman on Dec. 27, 1831. She was from Prince William County.
He and his family went to Tennessee in 1853 and owned farm near Madison, in Davidson County, Tenn. He was a Clay Whig. He was a school commissioner.
Their children: Jane Elizabeth Marr (1832-1867), Oscar Fitzhugh Nelson (1834-1928), George Thomas Nelson (1836-1877), Mary A. Nelson (1838-1860), Arthur Nelson.

James Richard Nelson, son of Thomas Nelson, born 1808, died August 11, 1861, married around 1836 to Mary Conway Griffin (1815-1861). Both buried in Amissville.

Mary Anne Nelson, daughter of Thomas Nelson, born Feb. 2, 1817, in Culpeper County, died April 19, 1887, in Richmond. Married James Henry Word, Fauquier County, Dec. 2, 1837. Word was born May 5, 1813, in New Kent County and he died in Feb. 28, 1886, in Richmond.
She and her husband are buried in Maplewood Cemetery in Charlottesville. In same plot are remains of daughter Willie (born Oct. 22, 1839, died June 15, 1848), son Thomas (born April 16, 1811, died June 26, 1848), son J. Nelson Word, born 1844, died October 15, 1866, son James H. Word and James’s wife Mary A. Word, Henry Neeson, 1838-1914, Lina Neeson, 1844-1921.
